Hi everyone, it’s Laura back to share a mixed media layout I made with the Wonderful World of Disney kit.
When I was a child I was obsessed with purple. It was my favorite color, and when I went to Disneyland, I always preferred to ride on the rides if they were purple.
When I saw the pastel colors in the kit, I knew it would be perfect for telling this story. I pulled out the purple paper and diecuts, and my three favorite photos of myself riding purple rides at Disneyland. I prepared my background by painting on white cardstock with some silver paint and stitching the cardstock to the patterned paper. This is a favorite technique of mine when I want to use patterned paper but it’s too busy to be the whole background. I also add some tangeled thread and flair from the kit for more dimension.
I love how this kit prompted me to tell a unique story from my childhood that I might otherwise have thought of. What quirks did you have as a child? Have you documented them somehow?
